On Thursday, May 10, the Marathon County Hunger Coalition, an initiative of United Way, partnered with The Grand Theater to host a ‘Raisin’ Great Kids Healthy Snack Drive prior to The Manitowoc Minute’s Charlie Berens’ sold out Keep ‘Er Movin’ show. “You can’t keep ‘er movin’ if you don’t got da energy. And ya can’t get da energy without healthy food,” said the always-in-character Charlie Berens before the event.
The Grand’s patrons responded generously by donating raisins, Craisins, fruit cups, applesauce, GoGo Squeeze, granola bars, oatmeal and many other nutritious, non-perishable snacks. As a result, the Hunger Coalition delivered over 400 pounds of healthy, kid-friendly snacks to local school-based food pantries and backpack programs on May 11.
Thank you to The Grand Theater, Charlie Berens, and everyone who donated and volunteered to help improve food security for youth in Marathon County.
