For years I’ve lived out on the streets
This was a Jack you did not want to meet
I drank every day to numb my pain
Of having to sleep in the pouring rain
Sometimes I’d go with nothing to eat
My glamorous life out on the streets
I’d look through windows, see people inside
I hated those people, because they had a life
Then God stepped in and sent people to me
This wonderful place – Catholic Charities
They saw the beaten down man who was in need
To become the man he wanted to be
My life is better in so many ways
What these people did I can never repay
They got me off the streets I used to roam
And gave me a place I now can call home
The easiest way to make a difference.
