Thank you to everyone who participated in the Rake-a-thon for Make a Difference Day! Organized by United Way Volunteer Connection, volunteers participated in a community project to rake yards and haul leaves for their neighbors who are elderly or disabled. Small groups of people raked 110 yards with 53 teams and more than 360 volunteers. October brought snow and cold weather this year and that created unique opportunities to rake with shovels! National Make a Difference Day is celebrated the fourth Saturday in October every year. This is a day that brings community service into the spotlight, bringing people together to help their neighbors in need. It is the largest day of service in the United States.
