Donate School Supplies for Fill a Backpack Fill a Need

FABFAN Logo -Small.jpgThe Workplace Volunteer Council is gearing up for their annual Fill a Backpack Fill a Need project on August 20.  With the rising number of children qualifying for free and reduced lunch because of their family income, and the increasing cost of school supplies, this project meets a very real need in our community.  You can help.  Consider hosting a supply drive in your workplace, church or civic organization and donating the supplies or cash contributions.  Or, just pick up a few supplies while you are out shopping and donate them at one of the drop off sites.  You'll find a list of most needed supplies and drop off locations on our website.

Your Gift Makes a Difference

Mary (002).jpgMary became homeless with her four children after leaving an abusive relationship.  The family moved into an apartment building that is part of the new Housing First pilot project where Mary received ongoing case management support from a local agency.  The goal of this project is to help individuals and families overcome the barriers to being financially stable.  One of the first challenges is often finding a job with a reliable income that will allow them to live independently.   With the help of her case manager, Mary learned to set goals and take steps to achieve them. She successfully completed the program and the family is now living in their own home.
