You Make A Difference

IMG_0205.jpg

Saturday, October 27, was Make A Difference Day. Locally, United Way Volunteer Connection organizes a large leaf raking project to help elderly and disabled homeowners get their yards cleaned up before winter hits. This year 700 volunteers with 36 different groups raked over 130 yards. Their total volunteer hours topped 2400! School groups, corporate groups, and families all participated to make this event successful. As one homeowner said, "You're all angels. I don't know what we would have done without your help."

If your group would like to participate in Make A Difference Day in 2019, mark your calendar for October 26, and watch for emails from us next fall with information on how you can get involved.

Register NOW for the Eastbay Turkey Trot

Turkey Trot.jpgThe ninth annual Eastbay 5K Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 22. All registration fees are donated to the Marathon County Hunger Coalition and are used to feed those in need during the holiday season and throughout the year. Participation is limited to the first 2000 runners/walkers. This is a great way to support the food pantries in our community, have fun... costumes are encouraged, and get some exercise before your turkey dinner! Register online now. Early bird pricing ends on November 8.

If you want to help, but aren't interested in running or walking the 5K, multiple volunteer opportunities are also available the day of the race or in the days before to prep materials.

Holiday Help Guide Available

happy-holidays-clip-art-to-printable-1.jpgIf you or someone you know is struggling to provide for their families in the upcoming holiday season, please check out our Holiday Give and Get Help Guide. There are several organizations who are prepared to help with children's gifts, meals, food baskets and more. Or, if you would like to volunteer around the holidays, you'll find that information as well. Make the holidays brighter for those around us who are struggling!
