#GivingTuesdayNow

Main imageJoin United Way of Marathon County and the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin as we rally the entire community to participate in #GivingTuesdayNow on Tuesday, May 5. When you give to the COVID-19 Community Response Fund, 100% of your donation will go to support people who have been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. These are neighbors who have lost their wages and tips. Families struggling to pay their bills. Children who are missing school lunches. Individuals experiencing homelessness who have been shut out of other services. From experience, we know when this community comes together, it can overcome challenges of great magnitude. That’s the power of this community.

Mental Health

Main imageIn times of crisis, like the one we face now, it’s especially important to support mental health. On April 22, 2020, United Way and Lee Shipway, co-founder and Executive Director of Peaceful Solutions Counseling shared tips to help cope with the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The social distancing our community is practicing can lead to increased feelings of fear, anxiety, depression, boredom, anger, frustration and irritability. By providing access to quality, affordable health care, United Way’s partners ensure that our communities get the mental health resources they need.

Listen to Lee Shipway, co-founder and Executive Director of Peaceful Solutions Counseling as she shares tips to help cope with the COVID-19 Pandemic.

COVID-19 Community Response Fund

Main imageThe Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin and United Way of Marathon County continue to address the needs of local nonprofits through the COVID-19 Community Response Fund. As of April 30, 2020 $244,800 has been invested directly back to the area. With the Community Foundation covering all administrative fees, 100% of your donation is being invested directly back into the community.

Community support, generous people, businesses and organizations have allowed the two organizations to provide flexible funding for organizations who are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus and the economic consequences of the outbreak. It is this support that has allowed for 33 grants to be funded in the areas of childcare, food security & basic needs, shelter/rent & utility assistance, legal assistance, access to medical care and education/youth services.

The fund has raised over $316,515. Click here to view a complete list of donors.

Working from home

Main imageFor the past several weeks, United Way staff have been working remotely and continue to serve our community.  Ben Lee has been delivering food for the Neighbors' Place and to rural schools with the Hunger Coalition. Lori Hattenhauer has delivered food for Mobile Wheels while Sarah Tiftt has organized virtual meetings with Women United and Emerging Leaders. Tiffany Arnold has facilitated campaign meetings virtually. Susan Krolow and Krista Mischo have engaged our volunteer core and sent hand written notes to many of them during this time away. Tara Glodowski delivered books to area schools for delivery during school food distributions. We continue to work for this community and look for innovative ways to connect with our volunteers and donors.
