Book Drive

One of the biggest barriers to reading for young children is the lack of books of their own. United Way's Ready to Read distributes thousands of books to children in our area. Donate new or gently used children’s books to United Way of Marathon County's Book Drive. Donate books May 10 - June 4 at Peoples State Bank - Marathon County locations, and Associated Bank - Stewart Ave, Downtown and Weston locations. Shop local at Janke Book Store and purchase new books to donate! Books can also be donated directly to United Way of Marathon County during June 8 - 9, 2021.  *The most needed books are board books for early readers age 0-3.*

Power of the Purse

On May 4, Women United held their virtual Power of the Purse, exceeding their goal of $10,000.  Funds raised from this event will be distributed in fall of 2021 by a Women United Impact Committee. Previous funding recipients include, but are not limited to: Project Step Up, Good Start Grants, Rebecca’s Closet, Justice for Families, scholarships at NTC and UW-Stevens Point at Wausau Campus and more! Thank you to everyone who donated items for the door prizes, auction, donated funds to support the event or bid on items. With your help we will be able to touch the lives of hundreds of people in the community.

The Community Baby Shower

The Community Baby Shower was a success thanks to our community donors. Businesses collected baby supplies and individuals donated needed items. These items included diapers, strollers, sleepers, and socks. All items will be inventoried and distributed through Rebecca’s Closet and other partner agencies that benefit children. Thank you to everyone who donated!
