April is Volunteer Appreciation Month

We would like to say THANK YOU to the hundreds of volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to United Way throughout the year.  People, families, companies, employees, retirees, RSVP, board members, committee chairs, impact teams and so many more are committed to this community.  We can’t do the work without YOU.

If you have ever volunteered for United Way of Marathon County You Are Invited to: A Volunteer Appreciation Event Friday, April 29, 2022, 11:30 am -1:30 pm. We want to take this opportunity to say thank you and see you in person. Drive through the United Way parking lot and say hello, enjoy a sweet treat and receive a token of our appreciation. Register here

Bicycles

Cummins donated youth bikes to bring smiles and provide a lifetime of experiences. Employees at Cummins purchased and assembled bicycles for children. These bikes were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral WI and will be gifted to children in the area. This is a story that has impacted families and employees while making a meaningful difference in our community. Thank you for thinking outside the box and using your talents to help families in need. Kids Clothing Drive

Many families struggle to get from paycheck to paycheck and seek help from local programs including area food pantries, shelters, and Rebecca’s Closet. April is a great month to help by donating the most needed kids’ clothing, shoes, snow pants, and diapering supplies. Click here for the most needed items and to shop the Amazon Wish List: https://www.unitedwaymc.org/community-kids-closet-drive You can drop them off at a Peoples State Bank location near you (in Marathon County) or at the United Way office.

Stop by and build a kit

Volunteer engagement looks different for each individual group and organization.  Stop by our booth at the Business Expo on May 12 and build a Calming Kit for a student.  Calming Kits have sensory items that assist with mind breaks and mental health awareness. These will be assembled, thanks to a great partnership with Ruder Ware, our LIVE UNITED award-winning company. Youth mental health is an area of concern in our county and this is a small way you can be involved in creating change and impact in a student's life.
