Farm to Family Produce Packing

10/28/2025

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Up to 5 spots available each week!

Location:
Community Partners Campus – 360 Grand Ave, Wausau, WI 54401
(Please park in the main lot and enter through the front doors. United Way staff will be ready to welcome you at 10:00 AM.)

What You'll Do:
Help pack fresh, organic produce into ~200 boxes that will be distributed to local agencies throughout Marathon County. Each week during the growing season, United Way’s Hunger Coalition purchases produce from Red Door Family Farm and Cattail Organics in Athens, WI—your efforts make it easier to get this healthy food into the hands of those who need it most.

Why It Matters:
This is more than boxing up vegetables, it’s about increasing access to nutritious food for individuals and families facing food insecurity. Your help ensures that fresh produce doesn’t go to waste and instead reaches tables across our community. You’ll leave knowing you played a direct role in improving health outcomes and easing financial stress for your neighbors.

What to Expect:

  • Please dress comfortably and be prepared for your clothes and shoes to get a little dirty or wet.

  • Plan to spend 1.5 to 2 hours packing produce.

  • You'll also hear a bit about United Way's Hunger Coalition and the broader work we're doing to end hunger in Marathon County.

Who Can Volunteer?
Individuals, families, and groups are all welcome! Volunteers must be 18 or older; those ages 12–18 may participate alongside a parent or guardian.
