Raising kids is hard, and for many single moms in Marathon County, it’s even harder. Many are working, doing everything they can, and still struggling to cover basic needs like food, childcare, and housing.
This family-friendly Lunch, Learn, and Do invites parents and kids to learn together about the challenges facing single moms and children in our community - and then take action together to help.
Enjoy lunch while taking part in an engaging, interactive presentation that brings the reality of ALICE families to life, with a special focus on families. Participants will learn:
What ALICE means and why many working families still struggle
How challenges like food insecurity, childcare, and unexpected expenses affect kids
How United Way and local partners help lighten the load for families
Families will work together to pack baby/toddler essentials kits that will go directly to families in our community. This meaningful project shows how small actions can make a big difference.
Parents, caregivers, and kids (late elementary & middle school recommended)
Anyone looking for a meaningful, hands-on way to learn and give back together
