Join us for United Way Week of Action! Volunteering to help others in our community is a great way to kick off the summer. United Way has a variety of opportunities! Find one that works for you, your team, or your family.
Sharing Community Resources – Distribute packets of information on local services. Pre-assembled packets can be hung on doors in designated neighborhoods. Great team or family project. Pick up packets and neighborhood assignments on Monday, June 17 and distribute June 17-June 21 at a time that works for you. Groups of 3-5 individuals recommended. Plan at least 2 hours for distribution.
Book Prep – Volunteers are needed to sort, clean, label and box donated children’s books on Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18. Shifts available at 8am-10am, 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, and 3pm-5pm (4 volunteer slots each).
Book Delivery – Once those books are boxed, volunteers deliver to bookshelves at local agencies. Groups of 2-3 individuals. A cart will be provided. This project includes some heavy lifting. Pick up boxes of books Wednesday, June 19 from 10am-2pm. Transportation is required.
Born Learning Trail Maintenance - Volunteers are needed to help paint, weed, and help with basic maintence of the Born Learning Trail at Marathon Elementary School on Monday, June 17 from 2pm-5pm. The rain date is scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 from 2pm-5pm. (4 volunteer slots).
Bookshelf Painting – Volunteers needed to help paint two United Way Bookshelves for two new community sites on Friday, June 21 from 10am-12pm. (4 volunteer slots).
Hunger Coalition Project – The Marathon County Hunger Coalition is packing 1,500 bags of food and information about local food pantries and other community resources.
