The Community Closet has no shortage of opportunities to help our community!
The closet offers one-time volunteer opportunities on the First & Third Thursdays of each month from 2-4pm.

One-time Volunteers will spend the afternoon with a small team helping with a variety of projects, such as sorting clothes, arranging the floor, and other special projects that help make the Community Closet a better resource for all families of Marathon County. And getting started is as simple as selecting a date! |

Help collect the clothing we need to fill the Community Closet! The Community Closet accepts new & gently used wears of all sizes, however there are some needs that are higher then others. |

The Marathon County Hunger Coalition works to eliminate food insecurity within our community by taking fresh, healthy produce directly to families in need.
The Marathon County Hunger Coalition provides food to 8-12 local food pantries throughout the county. They purchase food through the Bulk Buy and Farm to Family Produce Program to ensure resources are in the community. This coalition is volunteer-run and meets regularly to stay informed on the needs of our community.
Farmers Market Produce Staging

The Hunger Coalition collects over 500 pounds of produce from the Farmers Market each week. Would you like to help sort this produce and get it ready for market shoppers at The Neighbors' Place? Click to see all our available dates! This opportunitiy takes place Monday mornings from 7am-9am and is ideal for teams of 3-5. |
Farm to Family Produce Program Box Packing
During the growing season, the Hunger Coalition puchases produce from Red Door Family Farm and Catail Organics, both of which are based out of Athens, WI. This produce then gets boxed and distributed to agencies in Marathon County. See all our sign-up dates here! This opportunity occurs on Tuesday mornings from 10am - noon, and is also ideal for teams of 3-5. |

Farmers Market Gleaning
|
United Way staff will help your team set-up a table at the Wausau Farmers Market! Collect food donations from market shoppers, along with leftover produce from farmers each week that didnt sell. Afterwards, it's packed and taken to The Neighbors' Place to be sorted and offered to their market guests. Click here to see all the available dates to register! This opportunity is also ideal for teams of 3-5, and runs from 10am - 1pm each session. |

We will provide you with a list of our most in-need clothings items, and all you will need to do is organize it by size and bring it to the Community Closet! Bulk Mail Volunteer
Help United Way reach your fellow donors by stuffing, folding, and sealing letters here at the Office. Sign up to be on our BulkMail volunteer list! You are welcome to invite colleague to volunteer, just let us know before hand! |

After signing up, your name will be added to a list of volunteers along with your phone number. A United Way staff member will reach out to you roughly 2-3 weeks before an upcoming mailing asking if you would be willing and available. Lastly, all you need to do is show up on the day of!
