Raising Awareness about Basic Needs In Marathon County

HHClogofor-Andar.jpgDuring National Hunger & Homelessness Week in November 70 local residents attending a screening of the film 30 Seconds Away, a documentary about the inter-realted issues of mental illness, addiction and homelessness. The film was presented in collaboration with the AOD Partnership and NTC. While the film was shot in Milwaukee, attendees commented that it was very similar to Wausau, and helped them better understand the challenges of local residents who are struggling with the same issues.

Later that week, 32 people boarded a Metro bus for a tour of local shelters and public housing sites, to learn what services are available locally and what next steps need to be taken to reduce the number of people in our community who struggle to meet their basic needs.
