If you are age 70.5 and have an IRA, there’s a smarter way to help your community reach new heights by supporting United Way of Marathon County! Making a gift from your IRA, known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), is a tax-free way to give to the causes you care about, even if you don’t itemize deductions on your tax return. A QCD must be a direct transfer from an IRA custodian to a qualified charity, such as United Way. The gift must be completed and reach United Way (not just be postmarked) before December 31 to avoid penalties. For more information, please click here.
