April is National Volunteer Month

Main imageUnited Way is promoting safe, small and solo volunteer projects. While volunteers in Marathon County are always working hard to help our agencies, over the past week, numerous new Covid-19 Response related volunteer needs have been added to United Way’s Volunteer Connection site.  Some of those include The Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Faith in Action, ADRC, Blood Center of Northcentral Wisconsin, The Red Cross, Aspirus, Marshfield Clinic, Ascension, North Central Health Care and others.  Get Connected has hundreds of people responding to deliver meals to elderly, make reassurance phone calls, write notes and cards for elderly and for healthcare workers in our area. While this outpouring is necessary and appreciated, United Way again reminds each volunteer to use caution and adhere to safe and legal protocols. Please view our volunteer website for opportunity ideas, as well as safety precautions.
Shanna Yonke, Volunteer Campaign Chairperson, is a great example of our wonderful volunteers. Stay tuned for more volunteer spotlights this month on social media.
