Perspective

Main imageWhile 2020 has presented difficult circumstances for all of us, United Way has led the charge to ensure that our most vulnerable community members continue to thrive. As the saying goes, "A rising tide lifts all boats." We aim to build a stronger community together.

Thanks to your generous contributions to the 2019 United Way Campaign and the COVID-19 Community Response Fund, along with federal grant awards, United Way has continued to improve lives by strategically investing in education, health, and financial stability initiatives in Marathon County. However, the essential needs of our community are more acute now than ever. For example, the Marathon County Hunger Coalition, an initiative of United Way, has already distributed more food in 2020 than it did in all of 2019…and we still have four months to go.

In order to continue to meet these essential needs, we need your help. The needs are significant, far exceeding the amount that United Way raises in a "normal" year. As you all kick off your 2020 workplace campaigns, please consider how you can help your community thrive during this difficult time. Thank you for helping to build a stronger community and improve lives now and in the future.

Shanna Yonke, your 2020 Campaign Chairperson, from Ruder Ware.
