CommUnity Fest Stocks Food Pantries

IMG_3425.JPGCommUnity Fest 2017, on September 23, brought in 12,500 pounds of food, filling an entire semi. In addition, $3,000 in cash donations were collected to be used by the Marathon County Hunger Coalition to purchase additional food for area pantries.  Thank you to the 16 companies that built food sculptures and the 18 organizations that provided fun activities and crafts for kids. It was a great day filled with happy, smiling children and all for a great cause.  Follow us on Facebook and you'll see photos of all of the winning sculptures! A special thank you so our event sponsors: BMO Harris Bank, UMR, Sun Printing, River Valley and WSAW Channel 7.

Make A Difference Day on October 28

for slideshow.jpgMake a Difference Day is a great time to get out and volunteer with friends and family. Individuals and groups can help in several ways. Spend the morning raking for elderly or disabled residents who have no one to help them with the task.  Come to First United Methodist Church at 903 3rd Street after 8:00 a.m. that morning and you will be assigned a lawn(s) to be raked. Please bring your own rake and gloves. If you have a truck or trailer, you can help haul bagged leaves to area yard waste sites in the afternoon of October 28 or the following week. You can also register for  these volunteer opportunities on-line.

Can’t rake but still want to help? Consider donating toiletries or winter outerwear for children or adults. Donations will be accepted at First United Methodist Church from 8am-12noon on October 28.
